Autumn Hurd

For this excursion the main purpose was to rest and reset and soak in the forest & the ocean in order to regain a sense of peace, grounding, and room for creation to come back. For a creative project to work on for my time here, I asked folks to submit a single word for something that they would like to bring more of into their next upcoming year. Examples of submissions were "ease", "empowerment", "create", "circulation", "grounding". I then used my hand lettering skills to paint each word in silver enamel paint for a custom sign for each person. All of these words were great reminders of what art and creative process brings to my life and why it is so important for not just my own survival but for others' as well. As the world may seem like it is only darkness, harshness, & pain, we must find the time to slow down, remind ourselves of what is important, find those that are on the same wavelength, and transfer energies to each other to keep our creativity, whimsy, & hope alive & flourishing. We deserve to thrive, not only survive.
