- Describe your experience at the residency.
- my process included use of a few musical instruments from a company called ciat lonbarde out of portland, along with ableton live for recording. i sat down each morning with my coffee, looked through the white lace curtains, and let whatever come out that was inside.
- Tell us about the work you made — title and description.
- for this particular project, i used the name "DISXIPLE 113" and the album is called "SIDRAW", which is one of the instruments i used. the actual sidraw instrument was created by a person named meng qi in china, and was inspired by a design by peter blasser in portland. meng qi recreated an instrument called "sidrax" or "sidrassi" and named it "sidraw" because he exposed the 6 oscillators in their raw for to 6 vca's (voltage controlled amplifiers). the vca's are accessible by 6 areas on top of the pcb via touch pads, which are actually antennas that react to your skin. very musical. this instrument was one of a kind and i'm the only one in the world with one. meng qi's work can be found here: https://www.mengqimusic.com/
- Did you leave a token behind, or are you planning to ship one?
- Yes
- If yes, what is the title and medium of the token?
- the token will be some cassettes from the label "obsolete staircases", which should be available in one month or so. i will send them (or bring to my next residency!)
